April 2018 - Newsletter

As might be expected in April, we had rain showers on our meeting night.  At least it wasn’t snow!

We had at least three Corvettes in the parking lot of the Spook Hill Bar & Grill.  There are a few of us who don’t mind subjecting our favorite rides to a little water now and then.

Our first visit to Spook Hill was quite a success.

We had the whole dining room to ourselves.  The food was very good.  The service could have been faster, at least for some of the tables.  I’m told the management was a bit overwhelmed with our large group and an unusually large number of diners in the bar area.  But all-in-all, I think we will be going there again.  It would be a great place to hold a Halloween party.

Just a little side story in evidence of what a small world we live in:  Two member couples who previously had not acquainted themselves, happened to sit together.  Come to find out they were in the same high school graduating class --- some 60 years ago!!

Ron and I attended the April 11th dinner meeting of the Eastern Ontario Corvette Club.

What a great time we had!  It was held at Ramekins Restaurant in Kingston, and the food and service were terrific.  They had quite a good turnout for such a young club. I would say there were about 35 people there.  Of course, the main topic of conversation was the Kingston Corvette Invasion in June.

At this writing, we have 7 American Vettes and 4 Canadian Vettes from our club, taking part in the Invasion.  That’s great participation!  Those of you who have registered, should receive important updates and information directly from the organizers.  You can also access the Facebook page dedicated to the event.  I will forward information as I receive it as well.

All the plans are in place for our Spring Cruise and Mini Car Show, on Saturday, May 12th.

This will be a RAIN OR SHINE event!  With all of the planning that has gone into this, we are NOT going to cancel just because of a little rain.  Ron and I have driven the route and the roads are in good shape.  I will be sending out an email shortly with all the details.

The May dinner meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 23rd at Tully’s in Watertown.
