February 2019 - Newsletter

The snowing and blowing weather kept most of our distant members at home on the night of our February meeting. We missed seeing all of our Canadian friends.

It was great getting together again after an almost three-month hiatus. Pete’s was worth the wait. They did a wonderful job for us – the service and the food were excellent. Everyone seemed to have a good time.

The lucky winners of the Early-Bird drawing were Allan Burkhard and Roseanne Bowman.

Congratulations Al and Rosie! They received a gift certificate to a family of locally-owned restaurants.

Our new Club banner was on display for all to admire. It really does look sharp! Thank you to Darren Smith for donating the stand and to Tom Cheney for working with Inkwell Graphics on the design.

Tom and Darren are planning a spring cruise to VanBortel Chevrolet Corvette near Rochester.

We anticipate this will take place on a Saturday in late April or early May. New member, Tom Shaughnessy, has been there several times in his pursuit of a Corvette and he was duly impressed. Apparently some of the members of the Rochester club go there on Saturday mornings for coffee. It would be a bonus to meet them there.

Save the date! The second Kingston Corvette Invasion, organized by our sister club, Eastern Ontario Corvette, is scheduled for June 19-20, 2020. John Price says it’s going to be “bigger and better”! The first act is going to be hard to beat though. As with the first Invasion, registration will be limited. Those who attended in 2018, will be given first “dibs”.

Our March dinner meeting will be held at Art’s Jug in Watertown, on Wednesday, March 27th.

This will be an all-you-can-eat pizza and salad party. The cost is $15.00 per person. Betsy Jacobs is the contact person. Bjacobs002@twcny.rr.com

You may be wondering why Tom Cheney isn’t the contact for Art’s, as he usually is. Well Tom had his right knee replaced on March 1st and will be “out of commission’ for a while. You’ll be glad to know that the surgery went well. We expect Tom will be out and about and back to work in a week or two.

Don’t forget to pay your dues! Please remit your $20.00, made payable to: NNYCC
