July 2015 - Newsletter

There just aren’t enough superlatives to describe the dinner provided to us by Bonnie Castle Resort at our July dinner meeting.  Besides the excellent buffet, the chocolate-

strawberry dessert was “to die for”!

Of course, the weather and the view were spectacular, and the service was superb.  I think everyone had a really good time.

A drawing was held for a Corvette folding chair, donated by Davidsons.  The winner, once again, was Gary Adams.  How lucky can one guy be?

We received a special invitation from Morrison

Furniture Store to participate in their car show on Monday, August 17th, to celebrate the grand opening of their store on Arsenal St.

Again this year, member, Dave Clark, is organizing a cruise-in to benefit the Fort Drum USO and the Watertown Urban Mission.  It is being held Tuesday, August 18th, at Service-Plus Automotive, in Calcium, from 5 – 8PM.

It looks like we’re finally experiencing a stretch of nice weather.  Tom Cheney has arranged for us to turn some laps at the Evans Mills Speed-way on Tuesday July 28th.  The caravan will

leave the Nice N Easy on Leray Street, Watertown, at 6:10PM. Laps at the track will be led by a pace truck.  After the track, it will be time for ice cream!

Joe Coniglio is organizing an informal trip to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY.

The plan is to leave Saturday, September 12th, and arrive at Bowling Green on Sunday after-noon.  Participants will make their own way home after touring the museum on Sunday and/or the Corvette plant on Monday.  For further details, contact Joe at:

Our August dinner meeting will be held at Riveredge Resort in Alexandria Bay, on Wednesday, August 26th.  It will be a buffet, and the cost is $27.00 per person.  Per a suggestion by member Judy Shafer, seating will be by “the luck of the draw”.  It was thought this would facilitate old and new members getting to know one another.  Betsy Jacobs is the contact person:

Also, at the August meeting, officer nominations will be held for the coming year.

Elections will be in September, to take effect in October.
