July 2016 - Newsletter

The mighty St. Lawrence River once again provided a magnificent back-drop for our July dinner meeting at Bonnie Castle Resort. There were 44 members and guests in attendance, and they enjoyed a truly delicious buffet and dessert.  It doesn’t get much better than that!

Member Stuart Price donated a car cleaning kit

for which a door prize drawing was held. The  winner was Bob Cratsenburg.  He can use it to shine up that gorgeous new 2016 C7 of his!

Stuart also donated a die-cast model of a 1961 Mako Shark Corvette, which was auctioned off to the highest bidder.  New members Joe & Leslie Spano came in with a high bid of $35.00. Coincidently, they have a dog named Mako, so they just HAD to have it!

New Members:

Stuart & Gloria Dyer – 1999 Dark Blue Conv.

Joe & Leslie Spano – Silver Z07 Coupe

28 members greatly enjoyed breakfast at Tin Pan Galley on July 7th.  Although it was overcast, we were able to sit outside in the beautiful garden.

Tuesday, August 9th, is the date for our evening at Evans Mills Speedway.  We are scheduled to be at the track at 6:00PM.  We will gather at the Sunoco Mini Mart (used to be Nice n Easy) on Rt.11 near the North Pole FD for a departure time of 5:45.  After turning laps, we will head across the road for ice cream!

The Comfort Suites in Lake George is still holding a few rooms for us in the name of the Eastern Ontario Corvette Club, for the weekend of the Adirondack Vette Fest, Sept.9-11.  The hotel is otherwise completely booked for that weekend.  If you are interested let me know, and I will send you the details.

The 4th Annual Classic Car Cruise-In at Service Plus Automotive in Calcium will be held Tuesday, August 16th.  This event is organized by members Dave & Karen Clark for the benefit of the Fort Drum USO.  Let’s get out there and show our support!

If anyone is interested, member Wendy Hall (also of the Ottawa Club), says there will be open lapping for novices at Calabogie Motor-sport Park in Ontario, on Saturday, August 6th.

The cost is $65.00(Can.) for ˝ hr.  Check out their website at www.1morelap.ca for details.

Our August dinner meeting will be held Wednesday, August 17th, at Ryan’s Lookout in Henderson.  Please note this is the third Wed-

nesday of the month, due to a conflict with Corvettes at Carlisle the following week.  You will have to pre-select from a limited menu.

Details will go out shortly by email.  Betsy Jacobs is the contact: bjacobs002@twcny.rr.com

As per our bylaws, nominations for officers will take place at the August meeting, and voted upon at the September meeting and take effect on October 1st.  Charitable Contribution Forms will also be distributed for suggestions on this year’s donations.  Suggestions may also be submitted by email.
