March 2018 - Newsletter

Mother Nature is playing April Fools jokes on us! It’s supposed to be spring but she is threatening us with snow!

We did have one brave soul who drove his Corvette to Maggie’s this week. We all enjoyed looking at it in the parking lot and wishing we had ours out too!

Everyone seemed to have a good time at the dinner meeting at Maggie’s, despite the rather slow service. I also heard a few complaints about the food, but mine was very good.

A 50/50 raffle was held and the lucky winner was Linda Barney. Several more drawings were made for some of the aluminum Corvette wallets and t-shirts donated by Stu Dyer. That was a lot of fun! We will be doing more of these throughout the year.

We are going ahead with plans for a spring cruise to Altmar and the Tailwater Lodge.

The date is Saturday, May 12th. We will be leaving from Watertown for an hour-long scenic cruise to Tailwater Lodge. After dinner, Ron and I will lead any interested parties to Salmon River Falls, which is only a short distance away. When all the plans have been finalized, we will send out an email with all the details.

The Kingston Corvette Invasion in June is eagerly awaited by those who have registered for the event. At this writing, we have 9 American Vettes and 4 Canadian Vettes from our club. That’s great participation! If you have registered, you should receive important updates and information directly from the organizers. You can also access the Facebook page dedicated to the event. I will forward information as I receive it as well.

Member Wayne Harris, who is one of the organizers of the Jefferson County Fair, advises that there will be a Car Show at the Fair on Sunday, July 15th, sponsored by Cheney Tire. There will also be a car auction on Saturday, July 14th. Thanks to the generosity of the Caprara Family, admission to the Fair will be FREE all week!

The April dinner meeting will be Wednesday, April 25th, at the Spookhill Bar & Grill in Adams. Tom Cheney is the contact person. Email: Tom@CheneyTire.com

Phone: 315-783-6840

We can order from the menu and receive separate checks. An email will go out with all the details.

The May dinner meeting is tentatively planned for May 23rd at Tully’s in Watertown. The June meeting will be held at the Admiral’s Inn in Alex Bay.

There are still a few of you who have not paid your dues for the year. It’s still a bargain at $20.00 per year per couple or single person. Make checks payable to: NNYCC
