May 2014 - Newsletter

Mother Nature teased us with the threat of bad weather for our cruise to the Steak N Brew for the May dinner meeting. But we had sunshine for the most part, making for a very enjoyable ride to Turin.  We were very lucky, as I’ve seen pictures of parts of Lewis County that received two or three inches of HAIL later that night!

The Steak N Brew delighted us with their delicious entrees and desserts.  The apple cobbler is “to die for”!

On the 17th, we had six Vettes, including one member from Canada, join the Syracuse and

Ottawa Clubs at Watkins Glen.  We had a great time.  Although most of our group headed home after lunch in downtown Watkins Glen, Ron and I made a day of it.  We stopped at the Penguin Bay Winery and then met up with the Ottawa Capital Corvette Club at the Three Brothers Winery.  After enjoying some wine slushies on the patio of one of the tasting rooms, we stayed awhile to listen to the live music.  Then it was on to the Waterloo Outlets and some serious shopping, and then dinner at the Magee Country Diner.  I highly recommend their raspberry cobbler.

There’s been a slight “glitch” in the plans for

the Fly-In Breakfast at Oswego Airport.  Tom volunteered to be the contact, and now finds he is unable to attend.  Also, we have been unable so far to ascertain any details on the event, except for the date, June 8th.  So far interest has been minimal.  So if you ARE planning to attend this event, call or email Tom, and he will get in touch with the Syracuse Club and get the details for you.

The June dinner meeting will be held at the Admiral’s Inn, Alex bay, on Wednesday, June 25th.  We can order from the menu and receive separate checks.  Tom Cheney is the contact: or 315-783-6840

The caravan will leave from the Nice N Easy on Bradley St., Watertown, at 6:00PM.

Social hour begins at 6:00PM and dinner is at 7:00.  Please RSVP to Tom by 6/22.  Thanks.

Darren Smith is planning to attend the Six Hours of the Glen/Corvette Corral weekend, June 26-29.  If anyone is interested in joining him, you can contact him at: or 315-788-5498

Don’t forget to pay your dues!  Your $20.00 is due by May 31st.  Remit to Joe Coniglio,

415 Harris Drive, Watertown, NY 13601.  I will be sending out individual reminders by email to those who have not paid.  I would appreciate your feedback, if you do not intend to renew.
