October 2014 - Newsletter

 Happy Halloween, Everyone!!

The overcast, rainy weather didn’t dampen the Corvette spirit in our members.  Many of the 38 who attended the meeting at Ryan’s Lookout, drove their Vettes.  Too bad it was so dark that Ron couldn’t get any good pictures outside.

Speaking of pictures, Joe Coniglio, our webmaster, has asked me to convey that there is a problem with the website.  You can access it to view the current content, but due to some sweeping changes to the server by CREG systems, our website sponsor, Joe is unable at this time to make any changes or updates.  He hopes to have the problem corrected soon.

Ryan’s did a marvelous job for us, as usual.  We love their private dining room and the food and service were great!  Everyone had a wonderful time.

New Members:

Scott Laird – 1996 Red Convertible

Bob Tackney & Sandy Clark – 2010 Red Grand Sport Coupe

Bill and Melodee Doull described their recent experience at the Ron Fellows Driving School in Spring Mountain, Nevada.  As a perk for buying a C-7, Melodee attended the school for half price.  Bill complained (though not very loudly), that HE had to pay FULL price.  They both would do it again in a heart-beat!

Six charitable donations have been announced for 2014.  Each will receive $500.00.

   Wounded Warrior Project

   Urban Mission Food Bank

   Volunteer Transportation Center

   Lewis County Humane Society

   Gouverneur Business Women’s Club

   Dawn House, Kingston, Ontario

Dave Chase has been appointed as New Membership Chairman.  He has been instrumental in signing up several new members recently.  It’s been rumored, Dave drives around in his Vette, looking for other Vette drivers and stopping to invite them to join!

Member Dave Clark reminded everyone about the “Trunk or Treat” event at the Black River Drive-In, on October 30th, sponsored by, and for the benefit of the USO at Fort Drum.  5 – 8PM.  For more information visit the Facebook page for the Fort Drum USO.

Our November dinner (no meeting) will be Wednesday, November 12th, at Wise Guys in Chaumont.  You will need to pre-select from a limited menu.  Betsy Jacobs is the contact person:  bjacobs002@twcny.rr.com  315-482-4610 As usual, a separate e-mail will go out with all the details.

The date for the Christmas party is set for Friday, December 12th, at the 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel in Clayton.  The hotel is making rooms available to club members at a reduced rate of $99.00 per night, should anyone wish to stay overnight.  Details will go out by e-mail next month.  Betsy Jacobs is the contact.
