September 2014 - Newsletter

I apologize for the tardiness of this Newsletter.

Ron and I were too busy having a great time in Lake George with the Capital Corvette Club of Ottawa.  What a nice bunch of people to spend a weekend with!  We even had a couple from Massachusetts join us, who just happened to be staying at the same resort.  The weather couldn’t have been more perfect (high 70’s!), and the fall colors in the mountains were just too magnificent to describe.

Our September dinner meeting at the 1000 Island Harbor Hotel was a real treat for the 56 members in attendance.  The waterfront patio with the warming fire pits was a welcome gathering spot.  The dining room was elegantly set, and the service and food were great.  I expect we will be going there again soon!

New Members:

Art & Ula Alton – 2008 Blue Coupe

Matt & Karen Bondellio – 1984 Gray Hardtop

We also had a terrific turnout for the September 9th ice cream cruise to the Gals’ Place in Fisher’s Landing – 15 Vettes!  Of course, the ice cream was delicious too!

Martin Spilchen has advised us that the proposed wine cruise in Ontario would have to be postponed until next year.  The preferred driving route is currently under construction.

At the dinner meeting, John Price of Kingston, regaled us with the long, sad tale of his quest to obtain a C-7 in Canada.  The prize is still just beyond his reach.  Maybe next month!?

Member Dave Clark announced a “Trunk or

Treat” event at the Black River Drive-In, on October 30th, sponsored by, and for the benefit of the USO at Fort Drum.  5 – 8PM.

Member Gary Hineman, owner of a sports store in Kingston, has offered to embroider our logo or other Corvette insignia on any apparel, and deliver them to our meetings.  See his website:  www.pgsports.net to order.
