Mother Nature smiled on us once again on the night of our dinner meeting in Gananoque.  The drive along the scenic 1000 Islands Parkway was enjoyed by all, except yours truly.

I took a lot of good-natured ribbing, because after admonishing everyone else to bring their passports, I left home without mine!  About half way across Wellesley Island, I realized I had Ron’s but not mine, so we had to high-tail it back home to get it.  Then in an effort to save time, we decided to take the 401 to Gananoque, and got held up in a traffic jam!

I entered the beautiful St. Lawrence Room at the Gananoque Inn, albeit half an hour late, to “thunderous” applause.  Several people suggested I be “fun-fined”! It was a wonderful evening though.  The food was delicious and the service was great.  The view out the windows was gorgeous.  Too bad it got dark so early.

The person who should really be fun-fined though, is the club photographer, my husband, Ron.  Who do you suppose forgot to take pictures all evening?  There are no photos of the beautiful venue, or any of the people in attendance.  We’ll just have to go there again next year!

As elected at the meeting, the slate of officers is as follows:

President – Tom Cheney

Vice President – Kathy Cheney

Treasurer – Darren Smith

Secretary – Betsy Jacobs

An interesting note:  At one time or another, Kathy has held every officer position in the club!

The weekend trip to Lake George for the Adirondack Vette Fest was great fun.  We had a total of ten Corvettes in our caravan.  From Watertown, we took a scenic route through Remsen, where we stopped at the Soda Fountain for lunch, and then on to Lake George.  As it happened, the Adirondack Nationals Car Show was also held in Lake George that weekend.  Several members would like to go back next year and spend more time at the Nationals.

We are working on plans for a fall cruise.  When we have more details, I will send out an email.  It might be short notice, because of the weather.  At this time, were looking at a date of Saturday, October 15th.

Charitable donation suggestions have been collected, and the recipients will be announced in October.

For the October dinner meeting, it was originally announced that we were going to Cavallario’s in Alex Bay.  However, we could not come to an agreement with them concerning the price.  Therefore, we are currently working with Wise Guys in Chaumont,

instead.  When finalized, I will send out the details by email.
