September 2018 – Newsletter

We had a great turnout for our dinner meeting at Ray’s Pub and Grub – 46 members. Although it rained earlier in the day, the evening turned out beautiful. Ray’s did an excellent job for us. The main dining room was all decked out in autumn colors and the food and service were excellent. That homemade carrot cake was the best!

Officer elections were held and all current officers were re-elected unanimously.

Charitable contribution forms were collected and the results will be announced in October.

I put off writing the newsletter until I could give you all a report on the fall cruise on the 29^th.

Dave & Pauline did it again! They took us on a beautiful twisting, turning, up and down road, just perfect for Corvettes! Although the fall colors were not yet at their prime, the scenery was beautiful nonetheless. The Soda Fountain was great as usual, but the service was a bit slow this time – unusual for them.

A big THANK YOU goes out to Dave & Pauline for planning such a great outing. They are already thinking about next year’s fall cruise.

Can’t wait!

2018 Grey Z06 Coupe

The last ice cream cruise of the season produced a great turnout at the Gals’ Place – 15 cars. It was a hot night and the ice cream went down very easily, if you could eat it fast enough before it melted.

Many of you have noticed and commented that the “Members Rides” page on the Club website is rather outdated. Our webmaster, Joe Coniglio, has agreed to update it. He will delete those on there currently, except for the photos on the Member’s C-7 Page. Those will be incorporated into the new Members’ Rides page. If you wish to have your Vette included on the website, you may submit your own photo directly to Joe. His email address is:

Please include with your photo, your name(s), year and official color of your Vette. It would be a nice plus, if the photo included you and your significant other. That way other members can put a face with the car.

Sylvia & Steve Dion won 2^nd Place in the 1972-1984 Class at the Sept. 1^st Cape Vincent Cars on the River. Congratulations! However, they have since traded in their ’82 for a 2006 red coupe. Sylvia just loves all the cargo space in the newer model!

Our October dinner meeting/Halloween party, will be held Wednesday, October 17^th, at Stefano’s in Carthage. (The date was changed to the 3^rd week rather than the usual 4^th week, in deference to our “illustrious leader”, who is otherwise occupied during the 4^th week.) We will be in the private dining room, can order off the menu and receive separate checks. A caravan will be leaving Watertown at 6:00 from the parking lot of Northland Plaza behind McDonald’s.

The November dinner (no meeting) will be held at Steak n Brew in Turin, Saturday, November 17^th. Details will go out by email at a later date.

Steve Dion and Wayne Harris have again volunteered to plan the Christmas party at Maggie’s on the River, Watertown. The tentative date is Friday, December 7^th.
